On March 28, 2026, representatives of the International Higher School of Medicine and Osh State University participated in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Current Issues in Nutrition”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Department of Hygiene of Children, Adolescents, and Nutrition at Tashkent State Medical University. The conference was held in a hybrid format, bringing together leading scientists, academics, researchers, and young professionals from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries.
The conference addressed current challenges in nutrition science, healthy eating, preventive medicine, and public health, while also showcasing the latest research findings in nutrition and the prevention of non-communicable diseases.
As part of the international BERNICA research project, participants presented the results of studies conducted within the framework of the project.
- Yulia Shamilevna Chyngyshpaeva, a doctoral student at the International Higher School of Medicine, delivered a presentation entitled “Iodine Deficiency Disorders in Kyrgyzstan: Assessment of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices Among Vulnerable Population Groups.” The presentation highlighted the findings of a study evaluating public awareness and preventive practices related to iodine deficiency disorders.
- Aizhan Omorova, a doctoral student at Osh State University, presented the research “The Effect of the DASH Diet and Omega-3 Supplementation on Apolipoprotein A1 and B Levels in Patients with Hypertension.” The study focused on evaluating the effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions for reducing cardiovascular risk factors. The findings demonstrated the beneficial effects of dietary therapy combined with Omega-3 supplementation on lipid metabolism markers, supporting their potential role in the comprehensive management of patients with hypertension.
Participation in the international conference provided an important platform for scientific exchange, discussion of current trends in nutrition science, and the strengthening of international research collaboration. The research findings presented within the framework of the BERNICA project attracted considerable professional interest from conference participants and highlighted the relevance of ongoing research in the fields of public health and nutrition.
