Nutrition and Dietetics Modules

In the first and second year of the project, online seminars were organized by experts for teachers from Central Asia. The focus was on the assessment of nutritional status, the use of technology-based tools for food intake and the didactic approach to the development of blended learning courses.

The study in Austria tour included a variety of practice-oriented program items, including guided tours of the Health Perception Lab, a laboratory for health-related sensory research, the Food Processing Lab, an innovative laboratory for food production, and the sports science laboratory. In addition, the participants reflected on international and intercultural collaboration in workshops and implemented innovative learning scenarios in their teaching in a practical way. Another focus was on the Austrian dietetics training program, during which the participants gained an insight into the teaching kitchen and thus into the practice of nutritional therapy.

The three newly developed modules focus on the topics of ‘Nutrition in Disease’, ‘Nutrition for the Future’ and ‘Nutrition for Specific Groups’ and were designed as a blended learning approach. The modular structure of the courses is particularly valuable, as it allows flexible customization to the needs of the respective universities. Individual modules, such as a 1-ECTS course on nutrition, have been designed in such a way that they can also be used in other health-related degree programs such as nursing or pharmacy. The aim is to prepare students in a practical way for dealing with nutrition-related illnesses.

The modules each comprise 5 ECTS and consist of smaller online courses that can be offered to students separately in an online or blended learning approach, depending on the needs of the university.
